Moving house
Declutter before the boxes, then unpack into calm on the other side.Declutter before the boxes, then unpack into calm on the other side.

What it usually involves
- Decluttering before you pack, so you are not paying to move things you do not want
- Packing by room and by category, labelled for where it is going, not where it came from
- An essentials box for the first night, so you are not opening ten boxes at 9pm
- Unpacking into systems on the other side, rather than into piles
Roughly how long
The pre-move declutter is usually a day or two. Unpacking depends on the size of the house — most people book two or three sessions across the first fortnight.
What you're left with
Fewer boxes to move, and a new house where things go straight into a sensible spot instead of the garage for a year.

FAQS
Questions about moving house

No, I am not a removalist. I work alongside them — I get everything sorted, packed and labelled so their day runs quickly, and I am there to unpack once the truck has gone.
Yes, and it is one of the best times to do this work. Everything is already in your hands and out of its old home, so deciding where it belongs is far easier than usual.
